Don't eliminate all fat from your diet --- We all need some fat in our diets for good health. But not all fats are created equal. The typical American diet has more fat than is recommended


Don't avoid nuts or avocados ---Both are loaded with monosaturated fats. Avocados are high in Vitamin E. Do remember that these foods are in high calories because of their fat content, so keep portions small



Don't overindulge in any fat ---Diets higher in fat are usually higher in calories. Increased weight is a risk factor for heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes and cancer



Do try to avoid trans-fats ---Vegetable oils that have been hydrogenated (solid at room temperature) have large amounts of trans-fats. Trans fat can be linked with the development of heart disease. It is widely found in processed foods because it has a longer shelf life than other types of fats
